Company History My desire to create Buffalo Wings and Beer grew out of my love of sports and a yearning for great buffalo wings. I found that there were very few places where a person could spend time watching sports and also have great food and beer at decent prices. When I saw a restaurant go out of business near my home in Gaithersburg, I decided it was time to put the wheels in motion. I gathered some friends in my small townhouse kitchen and started using them as my hot sauce guinea pigs. After numerous batches of sauce and other foods the original recipes were finally decided. I then leased the restaurant on Snouffers School Road and with a lot of hard work it was opened in August of 1995. The concept was very simple. Offer great food and drinks at an affordable price in an atmosphere that is welcoming to anyone. We like to think of it as a gathering place for the sports oriented. We installed $1 pool tables, dart boards and arcades. We put TV's everywhere, some 100", showing all current sporting events. The walls were decorated with interesting local sports memorabilia from the past and present. We are now celebrating over ten years in business. Over the years I have brought some great people into the BWB family and along with their hard work, we have opened many more stores and have others in the works. The Gaithersburg and Cloverly locations are managed by my father-in-law, Eddy Cunningham and longtime family friend Randy Williamson. The Mt. Airy store is owned and operated by Jeff & Megan Green. The Eldersburg store is owned and operated by Janice and Robert Johnson. The Frederick location is owned and operated by John Laramie and family. The Wheaton location is owned and operated by Noelle Pacheco and family. Noelle was a wonderful cook at our Gaithersburg and Cloverly locations for over five years and now owns his own BWB. We have also brought on board BWB Express, a beer, wine and deli in Darnestown. It is operated by Chico Fisher, my longtime friend, former roommate and one of the people who helped me get the first store opened. We're also now a proud provider of wings for the Washington Redskins at FedExField. We are there during all home games and are located outside before the games and in the Club level during the games. Our idea seems to have worked out. We have all types of customers. At any time you can see in our restaurant people in business suits and people in work boots. Most of our customers are regulars; many of them at least stop by every day. We strive to have a friendly and hardworking staff. There is a big family type feeling with all our staff and customers. Some great friendships have developed at our restaurants. I actually had to close all the stores on my wedding day because my wife and I invited all the employees and many of the regular customers. It made for a very fun reception! The wings are obviously wonderful, but we also have great crab cakes and ribs as well as cheese steaks and char-grilled burgers. Our soups and chili's are homemade. We offer a wide variety of beer, over 20 bottles and ten or more drafts. We have a great happy hour. You can come in and have a great lunch or dinner or you can come to watch a game or play some pool with friends. Come on in and check us out. If we're not near your neighborhood yet, we're working on it! Thank you and hope to see you in the restaurant. Ira |
